The Burnout of Trauma

Sometimes, the impact of the trauma that we’ve survived shows up in some strange places.  Like Burnout.  On a scale from 0-10, “I can handle it” to “I can’t handle it”, the toll that the past two years had taken on you is maybe a 5 or 6.  As in “There’s nothing I can’t handle.”

Sure, you’ve been through hard things in your life.  But you got through them.  You learned to put your head down and push through.  Grit your teeth and work harder at it.  When the going gets hard, you go into beast mode.

Until recently.  And now it’s getting harder and harder to kick into overdrive.  To say that you’re tired is the understatement of the century.  Not that you’d admit it out loud.  You just drink more coffee, work out harder, try yet another sleep aid.  Surely the solution is right around the corner.

When you’re still long enough, you realize how soul-weary you are.  And resentful.  You want to just rest but also feel the expectation to do more.

The push harder-get things done-grit your teeth and get through it way has taken a toll.  And that toll has been inflated through the past two years.  There’s only so much more that your body will take of this way of handling the hard things in life.  The people that you’re in relationship with are waving the white flag and begging for you to do things differently.  And your heart and soul are ready for a change too

Harper Therapy’s Individual Intensive is designed to get to the core of where this all began.  Over the course of two days, we work deeply to heal those original wounds.  Then we address all of the wounds that have come after.  Then, we help you to learn a new way of doing things.  The eye movement therapy that we use during intensives helps you to quickly learn and embed this new way.

During our follow up session, we fine-tune anything that needs to be adjusted.  But Intensive Clients report sleeping better, being more clear-minded and at peace.  Other people in their lives point out how different -- in a good way -- they are.

Don’t wait any longer to get help.  This type of burnout doesn’t get better with extra sleep or a massage, that fancy vacation, or by getting your nails done.  Schedule your free consultation to see how an Individual Intensive can help you.
