Mentoring Relationships

Living life without a net, the value of a mentor…

While it is essential to innovate, get outside of the box, and take a stand, there is value in learning from others and connecting.  Having a mentor offers a brain to pick, an ear to listen, a check and balance, and a push in the right direction; someone to coach, connect, cheer, and challenge.

Whether you are a parent, executive, business owner, educator, doctor, lawyer, or work in a high-pressure environment, a mentoring relationship can give you an edge that separates you from your peers and/or your competition.  Think about it, there are times that life is lonely and complicated, making good decisions matters.  On many levels you take care of others, but how do you take care of yourself.  Having a mental health mentor, guru, consigliere, counselor, advisor, confidant, area expert, offers someone who can provide guidance, support, and insight and help you to improve health, productivity, overall wellbeing, and confidence.

The secret is out - most of the world's rich and famous have mentoring relationships to help them in their quest for excellence.  Further, many successful individuals can readily identify their own personal board of directors, area experts, that help to manage stress, reduce personal and professional bias, nurture creativity, and maximize potential. This isn't a new development either, mentoring relationships have been around since the time of Plato and Socrates.

So, while I can’t guarantee that having a mental health, performance, or stress management mentor will make you rich and famous… I know it can be an incredibly beneficial tool in your arsenal.
