What is Accelerated Resolution Therapy?
You live a "normal" life... family, job, maybe hang out with friends from time to time. "Normal", except at odd times, pretty randomly, memories from the past derail you, spinning you into panic. You've hoped over the years that this would just go away, but it seems to be getting worse. We specialize in helping people like you by using Accelerated Resolution Therapy. What is Accelerated Resolution Therapy? Watch our video and read below to find out!
Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) is an eye movement therapy. Eye movement therapies have been around since World War II, when doctors observed that military members returning from war would have strong emotional reactions during routine eye exams. Since that time, there has been research that has led to a better understanding about the connection between eye movements and the deep brain -- and countless individuals who have healed from haunting memories through this powerful combination.
Not only do the eye movements used in ART allow for deeper brain, processing, they are also very calming to the body. So that sense of panic, increased heart rate, and muscle tension that can come when you think about distressing events can be rapidly calmed.
ART is different from traditional talk therapy in that you don't have to talk about your experience. Certainly, you can share details if you would like, but many people who have been through traumatic experiences -- including war, sexual assault, car accidents, and child abuse -- prefer to not share details (and, for clients who have been involved in high security military missions, they CAN'T share details).
ART is also extremely effective for phobias, panic attacks, anxiety, chronic pain, and boundary/relationship problems.
ART is a highly advanced, highly technical skill, and as a part of Harper Therapy offering the highest quality services, we are proud to say that each of our clinicians is trained in this specialty.
