Q: What is your name and title?

A: Kim Hazelton, Occupational Therapist and Owner

Q: What is the name of your business/organization?

A: Sense ABLE Brain Pediatric Therapy

Q: Tell us a little bit about your organization and its mission.

A: We utilize sensory-based and reflex based Occupational Therapy to help children improve their ability to self-regulate, relate to others, and learn. By doing this, we help bring healing, hope, and harmony into the home.

Q: Who is a good fit for services at Sense ABLE Brain?

A: Children who are struggling to be able to manage strong emotions and behaviors at home or in the community, children who might have a limited diet, children who are struggling with learning, and/or children who are clumsy/uncoordinated.

Q: What's your favorite part about your job?

A: That's a tough one! I think it might be the lightbulb moment when a child recognizes that they have a new skill to use in life. A close second to that would be when a parent tells me that someone outside of their nuclear family has noticed positive changes in their child.

Q: What do you wish people knew about occupational therapy?

A: That we are a valuable support to help you achieve succes with ANYTHING that OCCUPIES your time, your mind, your dreams, your muscles, your thoughts, your needs, and your demands.

Q: What makes Sense ABLE Brain unique in the occupational therapy world?

A: Funny that you should ask, because we are often described as "FUNky", "not regular OT", and "not normal OT". So I know that we are truly unique, but it's often hard to put my finger on exactly how. I'd say it's in our approach to the entire family, and that we will address the parent's concerns without limitation. Parents, and often siblings, will be in the treatment sessions with the clientWe definitely have some out-of-the-box treatment approaches that typical insurance-based practices aren't able to take advantage of.

Q: How can people learn more and contact you? (Website, Phone, Social Media Platforms)

Q: Share one fun fact about you that most people don’t know.

A: I'm an author. I wrote "Calm Down, Child: 50+ Strategies to Turn Down the Fight, Flight, Freeze Response in your Anxious, Stressed, and Angry Child"
